This sterling pendant holds a darker natured creature, a female Gaki Spirit named Nokomia. Gakis are Japanese spirits, though similar creatures can be found throughout the world, including the Hindu Preta, the Vietnamese Quỷ đói, and the Chinese Egui. These spirits reside in a realm for ‘hungry ghosts’ – as punishment for their mortal vices of selfishness and greed, these spirits have been cursed with insatiable, eternal cravings. These hungers can take on many forms – desire for wealth and riches, for fame or notoriety, for love, power, beauty, sex appeal…literally anything that can be coveted on our human plane. These spirits will roam between our realms, forever unsatisfied, until such a time as their karmic debts are paid.

Nokomia manifests in the mind’s eye as a petite skeletal figure, often wearing or carrying flowers, which can be attractive to butterflies, bees, and hummingbirds – you may see more manifestations of these creatures both physically and in dreamscapes when Nokomia is nearby. Gaki energy is restless – Nokomia is a nomad, endlessly wandering from place to place in search of that which will satiate her hunger…for a time.
